Shchuka Mall

Mixed use

2005

The mall is located at the intersection of Marshala Vasilevskogo Street and Aviatsionnaya Street at a polygonal site with material terrain differences. In close proximity to the design site there is a large park and Shchukinskaya railway and subway stations, which are to ensure a permanent flow of customers.

The principal front of the building faces Shchukinskaya Square, turning its new forming unit, therefore the entire architectural image is subordinated to the idea of integration into the customary environment. The brightest emphasis is on the gable façade with its revealed sharp and fully glazed “snout”. The complex central entrance is arranged under this console. Elongated facades stand in contrast. One, running along the street, is designed in dynamic lines and resembles a streamline ship board. This smooth silhouette is meant for road perception from a moving car. Another façade facing the square and the pedestrians looks much soberer, with only two large rectangular sandy projections on the building neutral surface emphasizing its looks.

The six floors of the complex host shopping galleries (on the ground floors they are marked with large shop windows), multiplex recreation center and various cafes and restaurants with a possibility of screened-in patios arrangement.
